Abstract :
Results are presented from the experimental studies of KrCl* excilamp excited by pulsed discharge. The oscillograms of the applied voltage, total current, displaced charge, output irradiance, and discharge power are presented. The spectral and energy characteristics of a dielectric-barrier-discharge excilamp in mixtures of krypton and chlorine gas, which emit spectrum in the range 200-300 nm, are presented. The optimum composition and the total pressure of the mixture are determined. The radiation spectrum contains the band of the B-X transition of the KrCl* (222 nm) and the band of the D´-A´ transition of the Cl2* (257.8 nm) molecules. A UV irradiance of up to 36 mW/cm2 and an efficiency of 4.5% are realized.
