Abstract :
Low profile, purely metallic, medium to high gain antenna structures suitable for high power operation in linear and circular polarization are presented in this paper. These antennas are based on the Fabry-Perot cavity resonator principle and provide attractive alternative solutions to the bulky horn antennas for applications where high power operation and space constraints are the critical parameters. Measurements show an operational bandwidth of more than 10% with excellent quality radiation patterns and aperture efficiency higher than 70% for antennas in the S, and C frequency bands with aperture sizes up to 4 wavelengths.
