Abstract :
Earth currents occurring during phase-to-ground faults can result in hazardous touch and step potentials within and around the perimeter of an industrial plant ground grid. For a plant with a common type of buried ground grid, it is shown how these earth currents occur and how the grid may be designed to ensure safety.
