Abstract :
This paper considers the initiatives aimed at encouraging a better representation of women in undergraduate engineering courses. It concentrates on experience in Australia and makes comparisons with overseas activities. Problems and difficulties in achieving gender balance are discussed with the conclusion that there is still a long way to go
