Abstract :
The increasing awareness of the value of energy has caused an increase in the usage of power capacitors on electric power systems serving electrochemical rectifiers. An understanding of the characteristics of large rectifier systems is essential to the successful application of capacitors. The influence of rectifier harmonic currents on capacitor duty and how the interaction of the capacitor and the supply system can amplify this duty are discussed.
