Abstract
Prior practice in the refuse industry is discussed with estimates of current supplies of fuel such as oil, gas, nuclear, and coal being given. Problems utilizing refuse derived fuel (RDF) in cement kilns, and the difficulty of achieving a reliable source of such fuel is explained. Major emphasis is placed on future trends in energy utilization, particularly in cement and generally in the nation. Based on current trends in technology, coal will be married to cement and the honeymoon will be very long indeed.
