Abstract :
Using a combination of diffraction analysis and the three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain technique, we investigate the behavior of the recording light distribution in a magnetically amplified magnetooptical storage recording system with the presence of the optical disk and both with and without the inclusion of a solid immersion lens. The relationship of the distribution with the incident polarization, the air gap depth, and the disk structure is analyzed in detail. The results indicate that the distribution is strongly dependent upon each of these variables.
