Abstract
Integration of renewable energy based Distributed Generation (DG) units provides potential benefits to conventional distribution system. In this paper, the analysis of unbalanced mesh distribution system (UMDS) has been done with and without DG placement in an optimal location. The location of DG can be determined by using voltage index analysis and the size of DG can be computed with the help of variational technique algorithm. The impact of different power factors (unity and 0.9 lagging) on optimal placement of DG is analyzed.
