Abstract
This paper presents methods of design, theoretical determination and practical evaluation of machine parameters of an 8-pole, 5kW permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM). This motor had been designed in the laboratory and fabricated by a local manufacturer after procuring imported magnets. The practically evaluated parameters are found to be in excellent agreement with theoretically estimated values. This fact highlights the accuracy of the design, preciseness of fabrication and the reliability of the testing exercise.
