  • Abstract
    This paper presents the design, fabrication, simulation and testing of repulsion type electromagnetic levitation system consisting of an inner levitating coil, an outer stabilizing coil and a 144 gm circular aluminium disc fed from a CSI (current source inverter). First the electromagnetic system is simulated using available FEM package and its performance is predicted. Thereafter, off-line simulation of the power converter is done using an open source circuit simulation package SEQUEL. Finally, experiments have been carried out and successful stable levitation has been achieved at a nominal frequency of 300Hz. The results of off line circuit simulation show excellent agreement with the experimental results and waveforms.
