Abstract
This paper investigates the characterization of nonlinear distortion in harmonically related carrier Cable Television (CATV) systems, based on the adoption of crossmodulation distortion as a limiting factor in the performance of such systems. A somewhat simplified Volterra-based model is proposed for the simulation of a CATV nonlinear system. Such a model offers convenience and efficiency in required measurements and computations, and it is employed in the evaluation of crossmodulation distortion (CMD) in such systems. In this respect, the paper indicates appropriate measurements and computations for the characterization of a CMD factor of performance.
