Abstract
First launched in 1991, the Engineers to Japan scheme is administered by the Royal Academy of Engineering and funded by the Department of Trade and Industry. The author describes this management training scheme, under which, sponsorship is provided for an engineer to work with a ´host´ company in Japan for between six months and one year. Examples of the scheme in the electric utility field are also provided.<>
