Abstract
A simple self-seeding system is presented to produce optical short pulses with high sidemode suppression ratio and extended wavelength-tuning range. The laser external cavity consists of two fibre Bragg gratings connected in tandem, each of the gratings can be tuned about 14 nm, centred on its peak wavelength. The sidemode suppression ratio achieved is better than 32 dB across a 25.7 nm wavelength-tuning range.
