Abstract
This paper describes a study into the effects of rotor eccentricity on the torque in a four-phase 8/6 switched reluctance machine. Finite-element solutions are run with different degrees of rotor eccentricity and the current/flux linkage loops obtained for each phase. The work is then obtained for each phase and the change in torque studied. The simulation work is verified experimentally.
