Abstract :
The application of digital data acquisition and signal processing techniques to the identification of dragline load characteristics is described. The large quantity of data that can be obtained and analyzed so conveniently in this way permits meaningful statistical analysis of the effects of duty cycle, working conditions, and different operators. The power-factor regulator on the machine examined performed as expected. However, there are indications that faster response and alternative control strategies are worthy of investigation.
