Abstract
A very efficient design approach is presented for designing compact multidimensional digital filters having closed loss behavior (e.g., loss behavior with approximately circular, spherical, etc., symmetry). The approach is based on the use of results in the theory of classical complex circuits. The resulting transfer functions can be implemented by means of any suitable type of multidimensional digital filter structure, particularly in the form of multidimensional wave digital filters. In this way, very efficient designs offering all the advantages obtainable from using wave digital filters can be achieved.
