Report of Transformer Reliability Survey - Industrial Plants and Commercial Buildings

The Power Systems Reliability Subcommittee of the IEEE Industry Applications Society has been conducting surveys of the reliability of electrical equipment in industrial and commercial power systems. A previous survey published in 1973 and 1974 [1] included data on the reliability of transformers. Some of the questions raised by the previous results, together with a general need for updated data, prompted a new survey which was conducted in 1979. The results of that survey are presented in this paper.
