Abstract
Transverse flux induction heating is a process advantageously applied for heat treatment of thin nonferrous metal strips. In general, the requirements for a good inductor design are in conflict with each other. In the paper, an optimization procedure based on evolutionary strategy is used. In order to obtain a set of noninferior solutions, the Pareto equilibrium is applied. The solutions are obtained by linking the evolutionary strategy with an ad hoc code for the analysis of electromagnetic-thermal problems in three dimensions.
