Abstract
A preliminary analysis of the peculiarities of the ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) magnet system quench diagnostics has been carried out. The main factors limiting quench detection sensitivity are described. Ways to develop special diagnostic methods for increasing protection system reliability and noise rejection are outlined
