Abstract :
The systematic variation of magnetic permeability and dielectric constant and their relationship with microwave absorbing properties are investigated in sintered Ni-Zn ferrite. Toroidal compacts of (Ni1-x ZnxO)(Fe2O3)spinels were prepared by conventional ceramic processing technique. The large change in magnetic permeability is observed by the variation of zinc content (x) in in the spinel lattice. High dielectric constant can be obtained by sintering the samples in the nitrogen (reducing) atmosphere. A combination of high dielectric constant and large magnetic loss results in a thin ferrite-tile absorber used at a lower frequency in VHF/UHF region
