Abstract :
A simple and easy way of constructing a multilayer wire-wound pulse magnet was devised. A strong pulse magnet was easily constructed by simply employing ice with woven-glass cloth as a reinforcement spacer between the layers. Magnetic fields over 55 T have become available by using NbTi filaments embedded in a Cu matrix, within an 18-mm-bore diameter with a pulse duration of about 8-20 ms. Even with ordinary Cu-wire, magnetic fields over 45 T can be produced. The advantages of this method are (1) easy and fast construction of the magnet; (2) fast cooling time of the magnet after a strong pulse field generation; and (3) reproducibility of the magnet performance
