Abstract :
This paper describes a fundamental study of noise reduction transformers with a filter function for electrical surge noise. Three kinds of prototype noise reduction transformer are proposed. The noise attenuation mechanisms are discussed by experiments and by circuit analysis using SPICE. This is useful to determine a method for the optimum design of the noise reduction transformer. The main results are as follows: (1) The noise attenuation of the prototype transformer is above -15 dB. (2) The leakage inductance and the stray capacitance are dominant factors to increase the noise attenuation
