Abstract
A practical guide has been developed for the application of present-day standards and recommended practices for the calculation of short-circuit currents in industrial power systems. Included in the guide are simplifying assumptions and approximations which make the calculation practical, a discussion of machine characteristics and how they are accounted for in the standards, and flowcharts which map the procedure required for the calculation with references to the appropriate standards applicable to each step.
