Abstract
Performance of the multicarrier spread-spectrum transmission in the presence of the impulse noise is studied. In the scheme considered, signal spreading is implemented by the Walsh-Hadamard transform, while multicarrier modulation is based on the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing. The formula for the symbol-error probability for such a transmission system with the QAM signaling is evaluated. Theoretical and simulation results show, that the impulse noise has significantly different effect on individual symbols in a sequence of simultaneously transmitted data. This effect depends on the Walsh spreading code assigned to the symbol and should be taken into account in the adopted noise mitigation strategy.
