Abstract :
Relatively large transceiver tuning overhead is one major difficulty when designing a medium access control scheme for a single-hop passive-star coupled WDM optical network. To overcome this difficulty, we propose two algorithms, namely continuous channel scheduling (CCS) and continuous channel-minimum scheduling latency (CC-MSL), to reduce the negative impact of tuning overhead as much as possible. Extensive simulations have been conducted. And the simulation results show that significant improvement in average delay can be achieved by our new algorithms.
