Abstract :
Sm3(Fe0.933,Ti0.067)29 and its nitrided compound crystallize in the Nd3(Fe,Ti)29 type structure. Both of these compounds exhibit ferromagnetic ordering with Curie temperatures of 486 and 750 K, respectively. The room temperature saturation magnetization is 119 Am2/kg for the parent compound and 145 Am2/kg for the nitride. The Sm3(Fe0.933,Ti0.067) compound exhibits a planar anisotropy, whereas the nitride has a uniaxial anisotropy, with the easy magnetization direction along the [001] direction. The anisotropy field Ba is 12 T at room temperature and 25 T at 4.2 K
