Abstract :
Industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) uses of the electro-magnetic spectrum can cause serious interference to communications. Agreements on control of these devices are being forged by several international bodies. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is considering whether to adopt these much more stringent radiation limits, which would have a severely adverse impact on US industry. The names of these bodies are delineated and the status of present work being done is discussed. Recent FCC actions are also reviewed.
