Abstract :
A new pulsewidth modulation strategy requiring fewer commutations for a given number of pulses per cycle is described. Requisite switching schedules are developed for a general inverter. Harmonic analysis of the line voltage waveform is done for a few cases. The current and the torque waveforms of such a PWM inverter feeding an induction motor and incorporating current-limiting inductors are computed. Experimental voltage and current waveforms are presented.
