Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a novel superposition-coding-aided multiplexed hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) scheme for the sake of improving both the link layer and the transport control protocol (TCP) layer efficiency. The detailed system design is presented, and the transmission efficiency metrics of both layers are discussed. Furthermore, the achievable link-layer packet error rate and a range of other transmission efficiency metrics of both layers are quantified. It is demonstrated that our scheme substantially improves the attainable transmission efficiency of both layers and is particularly suitable for delay-sensitive services.
