Abstract :
Exact and approximate analytical formulas for the inband crosstalk caused by discrete reflection followed by Rayleigh backscattering are derived. Also, a simplified expression for the double Rayleigh backscattered power is found and the total crosstalk in terms of elementary functions is calculated. Results of measurements performed in a nonzero dispersion-shifted fibre agree with theoretical predictions within 1 dB.
