Abstract :
A precipitation instrumentation package for sensing rainfall intensity with fine time and space resolution is described. The package comprises a drop-counter precipitation sensor, a microcomputer-based data-acquisition system, and an intelligent data decoder. A comparison is made between the precipitation sensor and the conventional tipping bucket rain gauge, and the merits of the new system are discussed. Typical data are included.
