Abstract
In this article, the author explores existing conditions that necessitated action beyond normal mill maintenance. Difficult operating conditions and negative effects on mill productivity were identified. This article reports options and decisions encountered prior to and during installation and initial operation of the AC drive. The drive system has been modified to increase machine speed capability.
