Abstract :
Engineers can be promoted for outstanding performance during an unsuccessful project-being seen in the right light is essential, no matter what a project´s fate. A troubled project attracts upper-management scrutiny. This scrutiny gives an engineer unusual visibility and the chance to prove his or her ability and hence readiness for promotion. Outstanding problem-solving performance coupled to that extra visibility are the ingredients for quicker promotion.<>
