Abstract :
A microprocessor-controlled implementation of a fast and simultaneous amplitude and frequency detector for sinusoidal signals is introduced. The method computes the amplitude and frequency from three successive samples of the input signal. A special feature is that the samples are taken within a fraction of the period of the signal being measured, thereby minimizing the measurement time. Automatic selection of the sampling interval is based on the input frequency range.
