Abstract :
Several deaths every year are caused by burns. On the occurrence of the burn injury, the first crucial response is to provide the appropriate treatment to the victim´s injury and it may require consulting an experts or specialist of burn center. However, the number of burn centers or burn care units are very limited. People in remote areas, rural or hilly regions have to travel long distances in search of a burn care center. Treating minor burns may not require expert´s consultation, but there is lack of awareness about the first aid and prevention strategies, leading to higher incidence of major burns. Hence, an automatic system that helps assess the burn injury and provide first aid information for burn injuries would be extremely beneficial. The aim of this work is to develop an automated system. Our solution to this problem arises in one of the most widespread inventions of today´s time - the Smartphone. We propose and develop a Smartphone app using cloud interface that assists to identify the type and severity of the burn injury. Our approach to this problem is twofold. Firstly, providing first aid information by recognizing degree of the burn. Secondly, sending the victim´s information and image of burn to the cloud interface which is also connected to one or more burn trauma centers seeking the experts advice, and making the cloud learn from this data.
