Abstract :
The author was askedto write a column on IEEE Power Enigineering Society (PES) publications. Based on 40 years of interaction with the Society, most recently as vice-president of publications, in this column he offers his personal reactions, impressions, and reflections. The thoughts shared are solely his and do not reflect those of the PES board or any other entity. After a brief history of PES publishing history the author addresses the following issues: Why Do We Publish?, When Do We Publish?, Challenges and Opportunities (including the Impact of Publications for Members, publications as a Steady Source of Society revenue, the Appeal to PES Members, the Rise of Plagiarism), with a final Thanks to PES Volunteers.
