Abstract
This paper proposes a new algorithm for compression of color images using RGB and Y CBCR color space models. The scheme is applied by using Biortho wavelet filter on the standard images like Barbara, Pepper, Lena and Zedla. The comparison is done on the basis of quality estimation parameters like energy retained and peak to signal ratio.The values are calculated and it is found that good compression quality images are obtained by using Y CbCr color model.
