Abstract :
A cast of a human larynx was constructed and used to measure dispersion of a pulse of oxygen tracer in an inspiratory flow of 21.8 1/min. Maximum time-averaged and fluctuating velocities were measured at points downstream of the cast and were used to explain tracer dispersion in terms of the velocity profiles and turbulence at each position.
