Abstract
A CAD process may contain several computational sequences that are relatively complex and time consuming in their execution. These arise in the design of electromechanical plant, where a prediction of the behaviour of the plant is often required to check that it operates to a particular specification. In these cases the process of design may be enhanced and accelerated by the use of dedicated microprocessor systems that effectively interface with other aspects of the design process. The paper describes the operation of an induction motor drive response simulator and its application to two aspects of electromechanical plant design.
