Abstract
Too often an engineer comes up with proposals that are sound from a technical point of view but are not put into effect because of the engineer´s weakness in management and communication skills. Teaching these skills is not straightforward: they do not lend themselves fully to conventional methods of teaching. A novel approach based on case study techniques has been used successfully at Coventry (Lanchester) Polytechnic´s Department of Combined Engineering in its CNAA Postgraduate Diploma course in CAE.
