Abstract :
Researchers have investigated the use of test suite´s reduction techniques to reduce the cost of regression testing. Test suite minimization techniques attempt to remove those test cases from the test suite that have become redundant over time, since the requirements covered by them are also covered by other test cases in the test suite. This paper proposes an approach for software testing, using the concept of decision tables generated from software requirement specification defined by the user. The proposed approach allows testers to make an early estimation of errors and thus, reduce the overall testing cost and time. Moreover, for this type of method since the testing is done using the requirement specification it does not require the tester to have the knowledge of coding or programming logic. The test case redundancy reduction observed for various problems is upto 33%, thus saving significant cost and time.
