Abstract :
An introduction is given to CAD in its various forms and the three stages of equipment selection, installation and operation are described. An attempt is made to illustrate the major pitfalls facing both management and design staff along the way, and it is hoped that this will help to save both time and money for potential users of CAD systems. Other aspects which arise from the increased use of this new technology, such as security, are also discussed, and finally some indicators are offered to predict future trends.
