Abstract :
The finite-element method is a powerful tool for computer analysis of the characteristics of complex structures and components. This paper presents the fundamental principles of finite-element analysis together with the reasons for its use, and makes a case for introducing finite-element analysis techniques more often and earlier in the design of engineered parts.
