Abstract :
A 50 Hz after laying test for high-voltage extruded insulation cables is proposed. This test, which takes place in the network during normal operation, was successfully carried out twice, and one fault was detected. The authors present the circumstances under which the tests were made, the possible risk factors, and the results. The method of applying the after laying test as a sufficient discriminatory commissioning test was found to be perfectly feasible. The results of the measurements show that this manner of testing does not involve any extra risks to the supplying network. From the experience with two tests, it is concluded that this manner of testing brings weak points of the system to light
