Abstract :
This second article on Astec 3 deals with the system´s powerful modelling facilities. In particular, it describes how Astec 3 allows the description of sub-circuits or processing elements, in the form of models, which can be used independently or nested within more complex models to simulate sophisticated systems associated with signal processing or control. Examples are given of functional and transfer function modelling, demonstrating how a high-resolution graphics terminal can be converted into an investigative tool capable of presenting experimental results in a manner similar to the familiar CRO and spectrum analyser.
