Abstract
In determining suitable cardiac pacemaker waveforms it is desirable to consider 1) waveforms which consume least energy from the pacemaker battery, and 2) waveforms which dissipate least energy in the cardiac circuit consistent with effective pacing. In general, the two requirements lead to different waveform specifications.
