Abstract
The influence of the curvature of a resonator wall on the frequency, quality factor, efficiency, current, optimum magnetic field, and mode competition is studied within the framework of a simple resonator model for a gyrotron operating in the TE 0.31 mode at 150 GHz, with an output power of 200 kW. It is shown that the curvature of the resonator wall has basically a negative effect. If the curvature is large enough (δR ⩾0.06 mm in the convex case and δR >0.02 mm in the concave case), the gyrotron operation can deteriorate seriously
