Abstract
Computer-aided design and manufacturing is the intersection of many concepts and it itself cuts across many engineering, design and other related disciplines. Furthermore, CADCAM requires a strong interaction between users, suppliers and academia, because of its rate of growth, the development of new concepts and the massive training and education problem. It was these aspects that led to the formation of the CADCAM Association in 1981 to address the problems arising from such a wide range of issues.
