Abstract :
This article summarises work that is currently taking place on the KBET project. It outlines the roles of the participating collaborators and the hardware/software environment for the KBET system. The requirements for training in engineering are explored in relation to the way new training technologies, such as expert systems and interactive video, offer opportunities for improved training. KBET builds on work in intelligent computer-assisted instruction (ICAI), and the way the different components of an ICAI system are used in KBET is outlined.
