  • Abstract
This paper tries to characterize different samples of water bodies, with different proportions of salt present, and thereby proposing a sensor for detection of salinity of water bodies using image processing techniques. Images of different samples are captured using a High Definition camera and image processing is employed to extract the trends of measures of texture analysis. The findings show that saline water with different proportions of impurities display varying characteristics of five measures of texture. This research is enormously significant for checking the impact of human activities on the water bodies.
